This UK and USA bestseller, published by Dorling Kindersley, took a radical and refreshing approach to children’s reference books with the creation of a ‘totally random encyclopedia’.
As deputy editor and senior writer my job was to help dream up original and entertaining ways to engage preteens with knowledge of the world about them (the results included ‘Was Beethoven a punk?’, ‘Why do we smile?’ and ‘Imagine writing all this stuff’). I also commissioned a roster of freelance specialists and organized the in-house editorial team.
